Boot Defragmentation XP/Vista

The files required by Windows every time you start your PC can become, just like every other file on your system, fragmented. Over time this will dramatically

slow the boot process.

This situation can be overcome by these files being compressed into one location and this means that they are located quickly and therefore your boot time

becomes faster and so increases performance. To achieve this, a change is made in the registry so do not forget to BACK UP your Registry first!

To make the change do this:

(1) Click START> RUN> enter REGEDIT> OK

(2) Locate this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/dfrg/

(3) Click on the BootOptimize folder

(4) Double click on the Enable entry in the main window

(5) Enter Y in the value data field

(6) click OK to complete

The Boot process is now optimised every time you start your PC.

Cheers, hope this is helpful,
